Product evidence

The system, in context.

A closer look at the public booking experience and the moments it was built to improve.

The situation · what was broken

What was broken before we arrived.

700 Islands Adventure Tours needed tour booking platform development, not a nicer brochure site. Before the build, most of its Bahamas boat-tour bookings started in a WhatsApp thread or a conversation on the dock. A guest asked about a Tuesday charter. Staff checked availability from memory and hoped the guest replied before booking somewhere else.

That works at low volume. It stops working the moment you want to grow, because growth means more guests asking the same questions at 11pm, on a day off, or mid-tour, when nobody can pick up.

700 Islands sells real experiences: private charters, snorkeling trips, island-hopping, four-hour adventures. But the site behind those experiences was still a brochure with a phone number attached. It couldn't show live pricing. It couldn't take a reservation. It definitely couldn't answer a question at midnight.

So the operator was stuck holding two jobs at once: running tours during the day, and running a booking desk over WhatsApp every evening. Neither job got the operator's full attention, and the business had no way to see which channel actually drove a booking versus which channel just generated a conversation.

The signal check · diagnostic

A diagnostic, before a line of code.

Diagnostic

The Five-Signal Booking Ceiling Check

  1. 01 Demand starts in WhatsApp, Instagram DMs, or a dockside conversation instead of on the website.
  2. 02 Guests need to book before they talk to anyone, not after.
  3. 03 Trust evidence sits scattered across social platforms instead of next to the booking decision.
  4. 04 Guests ask the same time-sensitive questions outside business hours, and nobody's there to answer.
  5. 05 Growth depends on staff availability instead of owned search demand and direct customer relationships.

The decision · why this path

Why this path, and not the alternatives.

A brochure site with a contact form would have looked fine and solved nothing. Guests would still email. Staff would still quote prices from memory. The WhatsApp thread would just have a nicer landing page pointing at it.

So the build started from how Caribbean tourism actually works, not from a template's idea of a website:

  • Guests want an answer now, not tomorrow.
  • Prices and availability change by season, by boat, by group size.
  • Trust has to show up before checkout, not after.
  • Mobile and WhatsApp are where the buyer already lives.
  • Every manual booking task is staff time that doesn't scale.
  • Search traffic is worthless if it lands on a page that can't close.

Those six constraints decided the architecture, not a feature wishlist. The result is a tour operator booking platform built to answer questions, hold a real calendar, and take a reservation without pulling a person into every step of it.

Why Laravel and PostgreSQL run the booking and pricing logic behind a Next.js front end, with OpenAI powering the AI agent. Docker, a CI/CD pipeline, and Cloudflare keep releases predictable and the site up during peak booking season.

The outcome · what changed

What changed.

Verified: the public site now runs live tour listings for Bahamas boat charters, snorkeling trips, and island-hopping excursions, with direct reservation calls-to-action and a dedicated reviews page. Anyone can confirm this by visiting the site directly.

Everything below this line is what 700 Islands reports back to us. We label it that way on purpose. A case study that hides the difference between "we measured it" and "the client told us" isn't proof. It's marketing.

We built this tourism booking software with SEO and AI-search optimization as part of the direct-booking architecture from day one, not bolted on after launch.

Before

Manual, relationship-led booking

Bookings depended on staff being available to answer WhatsApp messages and dockside questions.

  • Walk-ups and WhatsApp-led inquiries
  • Prices quoted from memory, case by case
  • Reviews scattered across social platforms
  • Staff-led responses only during business hours
After

An owned tour booking platform

The platform now handles the first response, the calendar, and the pricing conversation.

  • Direct website booking with live availability, AI agent answers guest questions around the clock
  • Reviews that used to live scattered across social platforms now sit in one place on the site, next to the booking decision instead of buried in a different app.
After

Automated Booking Established

Before the build, most bookings started as a WhatsApp message or a dockside conversation. After the build, guests can see current tours, pricing, and availability, then book directly, without waiting on a reply.

  • The operator now sets pricing once inside the platform instead of repeating it across dozens of manual conversations. The booking and pricing workflow runs on its own from there.
  • An AI agent handles visitor questions and early-stage booking help outside business hours, mid-tour, or whenever staff are already busy with a guest standing in front of them.
