The situation · what was broken

What was broken before we arrived.

NuVision did not need another station directory. It needed Caribbean radio app development that solved the problems listeners already knew too well: dead links, streams that cut out, apps that stop when a phone locks, and one-island products that make a diaspora listener download three different apps just to hear familiar voices.

That failure costs more than a song. For people working a night shift in Toronto, commuting in London, or cooking in Miami, Caribbean radio is a live connection to music, news, and home. When the stream dies, that connection goes with it.

The business challenge was bigger than audio playback. NuVision needed one owned product that could serve listeners and creators: reliable station discovery, a media shelf for podcasts and news, live programming, a free-to-Premium model, and room to grow without bolting together a different tool for each job.

The signal check · diagnostic

A diagnostic, before a line of code.

Diagnostic

The Five-Signal Booking Ceiling Check

  1. 01 Demand starts in WhatsApp, Instagram DMs, or a dockside conversation instead of on the website.
  2. 02 Guests need to book before they talk to anyone, not after.
  3. 03 Trust evidence sits scattered across social platforms instead of next to the booking decision.
  4. 04 Guests ask the same time-sensitive questions outside business hours, and nobody's there to answer.
  5. 05 Growth depends on staff availability instead of owned search demand and direct customer relationships.

The decision · why this path

Why this path, and not the alternatives.

The obvious shortcut was a long list of stream URLs with a play button. It would have been faster. It would also have recreated the category problem NuVision was trying to solve.

So the product was designed around one decision: the listener should find a trusted signal quickly, keep it playing while life happens, and have more reasons to return than a single station.

That led to a Caribbean media platform with four connected experiences:

  • Verified radio discovery with search, favorites, and background playback.
  • Regional news from whitelisted publisher feeds, organized for timely discovery.
  • Podcasts from Caribbean creators.
  • Live rooms and debate shows with audience participation and creator controls.

The business model follows the same logic. Free listening is useful from the first tap. Premium is an upgrade for people who want ad-free listening and additional value, not a locked door in front of the product.

Why Flutter provides the mobile product experience. Laravel and MySQL run the API, administration, content, subscriptions, support, and operational data. Dedicated integrations handle live rooms, payments, notifications, authentication, and free-tier advertising, so NuVision can evolve each part of the media business without replacing the core app.

The outcome · what changed

What changed.

The supported outcome is a working mobile platform for NUVISION Media LLC that combines radio, news, podcasts, live shows, subscriptions, support, and operational tooling in one product.

Listeners can browse Caribbean radio stations, save favorites, and continue playback while using other apps. They can also move from radio into regional news, podcasts, and live programming without changing products or losing the relationship to the platform.

NuVision now has the product infrastructure to manage the experience directly: content administration, subscription tiers, payments, support tickets, push notifications, analytics events, and live-streaming controls all sit behind the Carib Radio product.

Before

A fragmented listener experience

Caribbean listeners often had to choose between unreliable directories, single-island apps, disconnected news sources, and third-party social platforms.

  • Dead links and unreliable streams in the category
  • Weak background playback and fragmented discovery
  • Radio, news, podcasts, and live content split across products
  • Limited ownership of audience data and revenue paths
After

One owned Caribbean media product

Carib Radio gives NuVision a mobile platform for listener discovery, content delivery, subscriptions, support, and live community experiences.

  • Verified radio discovery and background playback
  • News, podcasts, and live shows beside the radio dial
  • Free-to-Premium subscription infrastructure
  • Administration, notifications, support, and observability in the operating layer
